Bought By A Billionaire - Episode 1
by Kayla Parent
Did you and Alex break up??
What?? Why??
He just walked into the party I’m at…
With another girl.
OMG
Are you sure it’s him??
100%
But wait — DID you guys break up?
NO! I just talked to him an hour ago!
Ok, don’t freak out then.
Maybe she’s a friend?
Does she look like a friend??
If he’s cheating, I’m going to KILL him.
She looks like a friend…
With benefits 😬
They’re all over each other.
WHAT??
There’s something else…it’s really messed up.
What do you mean??
Promise you won’t freak out?
I know how you can get.
Just tell me!
He’s wearing a bright green t-shirt…
And on the front it says…
“Single AF”
My teeth grind together as I read the text.
We just got engaged!
And now he’s cheating on me?!
I race to my closet and grab the first thing I see…
Then I text Maya on my way out the door.
On my way.
Kylie, no.
You have the flu!
I don’t care.
I’m not letting him get away with this crap.
Where are you guys?
We’re at the Sinclair Mansion.
Just try not to kill him, okay?
He’ll be lucky to get off that easy.
Ten minutes later…
I storm into the Sinclair Mansion.
It’s all vaulted ceilings and sweeping staircases…
As pretentious as the people inside it.
The party is packed and everyone’s raging.
But it doesn’t take me long to find Alex.
He’s sitting around a poker table smoking a cigar.
A topless girl is straddling his leg…
And he’s got his hand on her ass.
Hell yeah!
Alex wins the poker round…
And the girl leans forward and sweeps in the chips.
Alex takes a puff of his cigar and blows out the smoke.
Looks like it’s my night, fellas!
The girl licks his ear…
He slaps her ass.
And then turns to her and sticks his tongue down her throat.
Ouch.
My heart cracks in half.
And for a moment….
All I can do is stand there watching.
Tears sting my eyes…
But I’m able to shove them down.
Because something darker starts to boil inside…
Rage like I’ve never known.
I walk over slow, controlled…
And confront him.
What do you think you’re doing?
But when he looks up and sees me standing there…
The bastard doesn’t even flinch.
Doesn’t even pull his hand off her ass.
He just stares at me, annoyed…
Like I’m the problem.
I thought you were sick.
He says it all casual, like it’s no big deal.
The girl on his lap giggles.
Now that I’m close…
I can see it’s one of his assistants, Eliza.
She gives me a nasty once over.
Ewww, she does look sick.
My face goes red with rage.
Are you cheating on me?!
Come on, Kylie.
Are you really that surprised?
You know what you signed up for with me.
Eliza strokes Alex’s face.
Aww, she is surprised baby.
That’s so sad.
The rage inside me boils higher.
We never agreed to cheating!
We didn’t have to.
You know who I am.
Guys like me always double dip.
Anger burns through me…
Scorching every nerve.
No, apparently, I don’t know who you are.
Because I thought you loved me!
I gave up everything for you!
My career, my house, my friends…
How could you do this to me?!
His eyes narrow and scan the room.
You’re making a scene.
Don’t embarrass yourself.
I don’t even bother to lower my voice.
I just caught you cheating on me!
I think I’m allowed to be angry!
His nostrils flare…
And, before I know it, he raises his hand…
And slaps me across the face.
I put my hand up to my stinging cheek, as tears pour down.
And snot runs out of my nose.
Alex speaks, loud enough for everyone to hear.
His voice is cold and hard.
I guess I didn’t know you either, Kylie.
But I can see now…
You’re not cut out to be my wife.
Eliza smirks.
We’re done.
Wait…WHAT?!
I want you out of my place by the morning.
Are you seriously breaking off our engagement?!
Eliza shoots me an evil grin.
And kicking you out.
Sorry sweetie.
The words hit me like a punch to the gut.
But-but…where will I go?!
You’re a smart girl…
You’ll figure it out.
Oh and also, you’re fired.
My heart lurches.
But how will I pay my Mom’s medical bills?
Not my problem
Now stop making a scene, and leave.
Eliza scrunches her nose.
And stop spreading your germs.
Eliza shoves me away.
I stumble back.
Alex turns away and takes a puff of his cigar, dismissing me…
And I crumble in shame.
