Romance 101 - Episode 6
by Daisy Daniels
Hey, Matt.
Hey — where have you been?
It’s been a busy few days.
Nina knows she’s lying, but she isn’t about to tell him what she’s been feeling.
Avoiding him has been a lot easier than blurting out her truth—
Hey, I think I love you.
Oh. I thought something was wrong…
Like you were mad at me or something.
Nope! All is fine.
What did I miss? How’s your new girl?
I wouldn’t call her my girl.
But things are progressing, I guess.
The Romance 101 lessons still working out?
For the most part.
LOL Your enthusiasm knows no bounds!
Haha I just think I’m not that enthusiastic about it.
About the flirting?
No, I love that.
So…about the girl?
Maybe…
I don’t know. She just seems a bit bored at times.
Bored with you? Or the texts?
Haha what’s with the twenty questions?
LOL Sorry. I was just trying to help.
Is there anything I can do?
Ugh. She can’t believe she just offered to help him with his love life again.
What’s wrong with her?
Nina sinks down lower under the sheets in her bed.
She should just go to sleep and put him off until tomorrow.
I mean, I guess? What would you say to someone who seemed bored with you?
You want my honest opinion?
Yeah.
I’d probably just break it off with her.
Seriously?
She’s sweet, and awesome in every other way.
Plus, she’s smoking hot.
I’m not going to break it off with her because she SEEMS bored.
Nina bites her lip. Does she dare push this further?
Is she sabotaging her best friend?
Are you sure this is only about the flirty texts though?
I mean, you don’t seem very interested in her at all.
And if she sounds bored, or IS bored with you—
Why keep her around?
I didn’t say she was bored with me.
And it’s not that serious anyway.
To be honest…it sounds like you might be settling.
Nina cringes, knowing she’s being a rude.
It isn’t any of her business who he dates, or why. But still…
She feels the need to say her piece.
Wow.
Nina begins to panic—
Did she push him too far?
Honestly, I never thought about it that way.
Maybe you’re right.
I mean, I’ve been single for years. What do I know?
Ignore me — I’m sure she’s great.
Nina, I trust you.
You know me better than anyone.
If you think I’m settling, well, then maybe that’s something I need to look at.
I don’t actually think that.
Huh?
You’re not settling. I don’t know why I said that.
Now I’m confused.
You were pretty adamant about this girl a second ago.
Nina puts her phone down on the bed beside her.
She really should stop texting Matt.
She’s digging herself deeper and deeper in a hole.
Nina?
Hello…
You can’t say something like that and then disappear on me.
Nina, come on.
Sorry. Wasn’t disappearing.
I just don’t know what to say.
Uh, you could start with an explanation.
You just told me I’m settling, and then you took it back.
Right.
Well, I don’t think you’re settling.
And I think only you will know who the best person is for you.
So don’t listen to me.
I’m not there. I’m not in your relationship.
The only thing I teach are the Romance 101 classes—
Anything else? I won’t know what I’m doing.
I don’t think that’s true.
Just because you’re single doesn’t make you clueless.
Then I’m both single and clueless.
Nina, stop.
You’re always down on yourself.
It was good advice. I’m going to think about it.
All right. I’m glad to help.
Let me know how it goes?
You’ll be the first person I talk to once I decide 🙂
Well, technically the second person. Depending on what I decide.
LOL Told you that you’d be breaking hearts.
Don’t make me feel guilty haha.
I feel bad enough.
Sorry 🙁
Hey, Nina?
Yeah?
Don’t disappear on me again.
I missed talking to you.
Nina’s heart warms—
But she knows she’s reading into his words more than she should.
Her crush is getting harder and harder to tame.
Matt?
I promise to be here.
Good 😉
