The Swap - Part 7
by Athirah Roslan
Emma was debating whether or not she should text Jeremy.
I'll be arriving back to the States tmrw.
Let's meet the following day to swap phones before school starts again.
I don't want to have anything to do with you once school starts.
So please do me a favor and just act like you don't know me, ok?
Eventually, people will forget about the stupid rumour that you and I are dating.
But...I don't want to have nothing to do with you.
I know that what I did is unforgivable. But I'm sorry.
It's best if we completely stop talking about that night.
In fact, it's best if we completely stop talking at all.
What are you saying?
I'm saying that we should stop texting each other for good.
I will only text you where to meet when I get back home so that we can swap our phones.
No. I don't want to stop talking to you.
Look, Emma. I'm sorry. I don't know how many times I'm supposed to say I'm sorry but I'm sorry.
And, I'm going to continue apologizing until you forgive me.
Even if it takes me more than just apologizing through text. I'll do it.
I'll do anything to get you back into my good graces.
Why do you even care, Jeremy?
We barely even know each other.
So, don't act like you and I have something special. Nothing is going on between us.
If all you want to do is be friends. Then, I'll take it. I just don't want you out of my life.
Ever since we acidentally swapped phones...I can't stop thinking about you.
Everything reminds me of you and makes me want to text you all the time.
I've never felt this way before.
I don't know how you have this hold one me...but it's driving me crazy.
I just don't want us to stop talking.
Things can never be normal between us, Jeremy. Not after the way you acted that night.
I'm not saying that things will go back to normal.
All I'm asking is for you to forgive me so that we can start fresh.
I'll make it up to you. I promise - anything you want, name it.
Well...how about for starters...
you stop texting me?
Anything but that, Emma!
I don't want to talk about this.
Fine. Then I'll just show you how sorry I am.
Emma knew deep down that she wanted to forgive Jeremy.
But he hadn't earned it. At least...not yet.
