Unseen and Unheard - Episode 2
by Charlie Poe
This can’t be real. I’m dead?
How am I still here? None of this makes any sense.
You were in an accident.
But I don’t remember that at all!
The last thing I remember was fighting with Jax over stupid Lauren.
That’s when it happened. We were at the party. Lauren made a pass at Jax.
I remember. He insisted she was just being nice, I got mad and left.
Then he tried to follow me but I told him I needed to be alone for a bit.
Exactly. You didn’t even say goodbye. You just turned right back around and left.
I was so mad at you. You were supposed to be my ride.
An hour later, some cops came by and gave us the news—
You’d been in an accident. Your car was hit by the drunk truck driver.
Oh my God!
Yeah. Well, they assume he was drunk…
There was beer in the cabin, but they never caught the guy.
Michelle said that the truck was abandoned at the scene of the crime…
But the police didn’t say anything about it.
They wouldn’t even let us see the body.
They just came by to tell us the news and make sure WE weren’t drinking.
God, we just couldn’t believe it — I still can’t wrap my head around it.
How did they know where to go?
Those stupid party flyers Pete made. They found a bunch in your front seat.
Your mom said she’ll call later with your service time. That’s what we’re waiting for now.
This can’t be real. This has to be a nightmare…
I need to wake up.
I wish you could.
Kira…I’m scared. This is too much.
Too much? Imagine getting texted by your best friend right after she died.
Imagine finding out you ARE dead.
This whole situation is terrible. I don’t know what’s worse…
If some creep stole my dead best friend’s phone and knows way, waayyy too much about me…
Or if you are Heather.
And I’ve been texting with my dead best friend.
This is flat-out insane. You’re the only one who’s answering me.
Jax isn’t answering my texts.
My parents aren’t. No one else is answering. Just you.
Lucky me…
Please…let’s meet at the Pizzeria, and you can see that it’s me for yourself.
We can talk through this and try and figure this out. I’m walking, I guess, so I’ll be there in 30.
Ok. I’ll meet you.
But if you try anything or this is some sort of prank, I’m calling 911.
I promise, it isn’t.
30 minutes later
I’m here, where are you?
Pulling up in one sec.
I see your car.
I don’t see you at all.
I swear to God, if this is some sort of elaborate joke, I will hunt you down.
What are you talking about?
I’m right in front of the sign. I’m the only one here and waving my arm.
I’m literally 30 feet away.
I’m staring at the sign now. There’s nobody there.
I’ve been jumping up and down, yelling “KIRA!”
How do you not see me?!
Can you not hear me either?
Look.
Kira sends Heather a picture of Pizzeria sign.
No one there.
It’s been fun, but I’m done playing games. I’m leaving and calling the cops.
What…?
But I’m right here.
KIRA! STOP!
LOOK!!
Heather sends Kira a picture of Kira. She’s standing in front of her car in the parking lot.
She’s wearing the exact same outfit in the picture and her hair is styled the same way.
What is going on?
Kira?
What?
Can we try something…??
Just…take two steps forward.
Ok?
Stand still for a second.
WTF. It just got really cold all of a sudden.
I feel it all throughout my body.
What is going on?
Kira…you’re standing right in front of me.
I just tried to grab your hand…
And I passed right through it.
What do you mean?!
Kira, I’m here. And you’re here.
I can see you, but you can’t see me. You can’t hear me.
I just tried to touch you, and my hand physically passed through yours.
All you felt was cold.
I can’t even…
What is this?
Kira, it’s like we’re in different dimensions.
Different planes of existence. And that means…
I really AM dead—
I think I’m a ghost.
